SLOPE STABILIZATION OF I-295 NORTH EXIT RAMP TO I-195 EAST

KMA was commissioned by the NJDOT to provide Concept Development and Final Design phase services to address the slope failure that was occurring along the southern embankment of the ramp.

The preferred alternative selected was the king pile cutoff wall to stabilize the lateral translation with drilled displacement piles to arrest the settlement of the subbase soils. A seepage and slope stability analysis was conducted to determine the required sheeting depth to achieve stabilization. This design accounts for any anticipated movement at the toe of slope in order to ensure the ramp movement is minimal to none, and was constructed to provide a 100-year service life with a signifcant reduction in maintenance costs throughout its lifespan.
