Photogrammetric Mapping



KMA has four full time photogrammetrists and support staff (CADD specialists and technicians) to complete high quality base mapping for various needs, from planning/feasibility to final design. In addition, KMA has full-service in-house surveying capabilities to support the mapping process. Photogrammetric mapping is prepared under the direct supervision of a American Society for Photogrammetry and remote Sensing (ASPRS) Certified Photogrammetrist. Our Certified Photogrammetrists and senior photogrammetrists are highly familiar with the NJDOT Survey Manual, the NJDOT Aerial Photogrammetric Mapping Guidelines, NJDOT Article 44/Survey report, NJDOT Article 51/CADD, and the Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee Standards.Mapping

KMA has the capabilities to develop/procure the four mapping levels as recognized by the NJDOT:

Level One-High resolution aerial photography procured from an aerial flight company. Useful for project planning purposes.

Level Two-Mapping developed from photography procured with high altitude flight (fixed wing aircraft). Mapping scale usually of 1″ = 100′ or 1″ = 200′. Not adequate for final design, but useful for prelominary design and planning purposes.

Level Three-Mapping developed from low -altitude flight (helicopter). Mapping scale of 1″=30′ or 1′ =50′. Mapping adequate for final design.

Level Four-Level Three mapping with additional data obtained through supplemental survey. Typical supplemental data can include stream cross-sections, wetland boundary flag locations, stormwater drainage inverts, and utility pole numbers, but may also included driveway and sidewalk materials, ADA ramp elevation details, and test boring/test pit locations.
