Culvert Repairs at Garden State Parkway Mileposts 115 to 116

Location: Holmdel Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey

Client: McCormick Taylor, Inc.

Owner: NJTA

Phase: Design Phases A and B

Status: Final Design Underway

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) has retained McCormick Taylor to provide design services for the cleaning and repair of culverts along the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 115 and 116 under NJTA OPS No. P3783.  There are three corrugated metal pipe culverts to be addressed under this contract: A 66-inch culvert crossing the southbound roadways at milepost 115.13; a 66-inch culvert crossing the Garden State Arts Center roadway at milepost 115.80; and a third culvert at milepost 115.81 that has both a 60-inch section that spans the northbound lanes and a 66-inch section that spans the southbound lanes.  As part of the design services, KMA was subcontracted to perform surveying, prepare project base mapping, and complete a wetland delineation.

The wetland delineation was performed by qualified wetland scientists from KMA to identify the location, extent, and characteristics of regulated wetlands and State open waters within the project limits and at a distance of 150 feet from proposed ground disturbance and construction access areas.  Wetland identification and delineation were conducted using the three-parameter approach (hydrology, soils, and vegetation) in accordance with the Federal Manual for Identifying and Delineating Jurisdictional Wetlands (1989).
