Location: Monmouth County, New Jersey
Client: McCormick Taylor, Inc.
Owner: NJTA
Phase: Design Phases A-D and Construction
Status: Construction Underway
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) has retained McCormick Taylor, Inc. to provide design services for the cleaning and structural repair of twin corrugated metal pipe culverts at Garden State Parkway milepost 111.5, as well as a culvert at milepost 117.4, under Contract Nos. P200.491 and P200.492, respectively. McCormick Taylor was also commissioned to provide construction supervision services on the twin CMPs at milepost 111.5 under Contract No. P200.490. As part of design services and construction supervision services, KMA Consulting Engineers, Inc. was commissioned to prepare utility base plans and to perform photogrammetric mapping, field surveying, geotechnical engineering, field and laboratory testing, utility designation and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) test holes.
The goal of this project is to provide full structural rehabilitation on the aforementioned culverts and to clear debris that has prohibited non-National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) inspection from being performed. Specific tasks fulfilled by KMA as subconsultant on this project included compiling aerial mapping and performing supplemental survey and field edits to prepare base mapping; superimposing existing utility facilities with proposed design features to identify potential conflicts on project plans; collecting existing borings and the as-built plans for both locations; and employing electromagnetic methods for utility designation and vacuum excavation methods to perform test holes for underground utilities locations.
